History of Edelény castle In the valley of the river Bodva can be found the modest houses of Borsod, which used to be a seperate settlement in the medieval times and it is now joined to the town called Edelény. One of these houses is furnished as a country house by the pleased posterity. Behind this we can view one of the oldest hungarian historical memorial, the borsod soil castle.
The overseer of the Borsod castle gave orders to the people of the county, and he didn't lose his power influence until the second half of the 13th century, when his lands got into private owners' hands. The researchers excavated the base of the church which stood in the castleyard in the neighbourhood of some residential houses. Anonymus, the mysterious story writer, referred to the soil castle according to which the conquering Árpád leader, son of Böngér, sent Bors with a meaningful troop to rise a fortress here on the boarder, according to the legend Castle of Borsod was given the name after him.
